Friendly Day-Care Services: Committed to the local community
The St.Ives Day Centre, based in St.Ives (Cambs), is a unique community charity founded in 1979 to provide 5 day a week day-care service for the elderly, lonely and frail within the local community including St.Ives and surrounding villages.
It is the only day-care centre of its kind in the St Ives area providing essential services to its members offering transport to/from the Day Care Centre, social contact in a friendly environment and a hot, freshly cooked lunch each day. Just as important it offers a much needed break for members carers many of whom provide round the clock care with this service giving them perhaps their only respite.
Afternoon entertainment, such as “Zoolab” and “Jukebox legends”, is offered for members enjoyment. Occasional outings, such as lunch out at the Barley Mow in Hartford, The Crown in Earith and the Queen’s Head in Needingworth, are also arranged.
December was another busy month with the local Rotary Club contributing to and helping at Christmas lunches for members and a very welcome visit from pupils from St.Ivo who entertained members with a most enjoyable programme of Christmas songs!
