Friendly Day Services: Committed to the local community
The St.Ives Day Centre, based in St.Ives (Cambs), is a unique community charity founded in 1979 to provide 5 day a week day service for the elderly, lonely and frail within the local community including St.Ives and surrounding villages.
It is the only day centre of its kind in the St Ives area providing essential services to its members offering transport to/from the Day Centre, social contact in a friendly environment and a hot, freshly cooked lunch each day. Just as important it offers a much needed break for members carers many of whom provide round the clock care with this service giving them perhaps their only respite.
Afternoon entertainment, such as “Jukebox legends”, Mark Burton and The Norris Museum is offered for members enjoyment.

The Day Centre is run by a small team of dedicated, committed staff and much valued, caring volunteers and is funded by charging a small attendance rate for members, but is also dependent on much appreciated donations and fund raising events organised by the staff, committee, volunteers as well as the members and their relatives.
Examples of how donations / funds may be spent include helping to provide:
- Afternoon entertainment;
- Maintainence of the Day Centre minibus providing essential transport for members to/from the Centre;
- Specialist training for staff and volunteers to enable them to keep up to date with all health and safety requirements as well essential care advice.
